BLACK CHILDHOOD STOLEN BY TECHNOLOGY
Remember the days when you used to come back home late all dusty ready to be shouted at or beaten the dust out of you, gone are those days. Technology has introduced new gadgets and applications which children are always glued to,missing out on real fun we used to have.
The 2000s would argue with the 90s kids if they would tell them that they used to play games on the streets with a handmade ball. One of my favorite street games was "u10 toti" where you had to put all the squeezed tins with your feet in the bucket while dodging the ball 😁 and I was good at it. There was also "udushe, 3 toti, unkqonkqi and uphequ" those are all handmade-ball games.
I bet the 2000s are lost because all they know are video games and being social media's felebs, twelebs and slay queens on insta.Only if they new how much fun the technology has stolen from them.

We even used to swim in dams not swimming pools. I miss coming home with red eyes, and surely I will be damn beaten up! !
Haha and you would deny even though it's obvious your eyes are telling and your shiny skin
DeleteNot all 2000s did not play these games you have mentioned above ...it depend on the community you grew up in.

DeleteUphequ and 3toti were my favorites ☺ and I enjoyed my childhood because of those games. I never liked participating in physical activities but they were my exception.

DeleteUdushe is one of the games i played back in years with my older sisters,That was one of good times and as 90s we had the best and unforgetable childhood ever .
ReplyDeleteI disagree a lot. I am a 2000 myself and growing up we played a lot of indigenous games. I mastered one or two.

ReplyDeleteYhoo those days were really out of this world and did wonders in building relationships. I will definitely teach my kids ,I want them to have a taste of my childhood .
ReplyDeleteYoh I miss those days, it's hard to make friends these days what we do is gossiping about each other unlike back then were we used to play and make friend.
ReplyDeleteGone are those days! They were the best days of our lives, we had nothing to worry about besides getting a hiding from mom for swimming in dirty water and not coming home to eat during the day. We were so young and free, free from sadness, worry, stress and depression. #BringBackOurChildhoodDays.
ReplyDeleteI so believe we've. so misjudged this kids it's their time, their generation let's let them be as the world is truly evolving with technology
ReplyDeleteI believe that most of the societies in rural areas played these games during 90's , but in our days that type of game is an old fashion, on the other side , the are still areas where children play these games ,but it depend on the type of environment.
ReplyDeleteWhow this is so true ... Gone are those days! Nowadays people are so cruel it's not easy to let a child go out on the street because of their safety.
ReplyDeleteWonderfull games to young teens ranges between 2000s. Those who missed should be ashamed.
ReplyDeleteThose days were the days. There is none of those games I didn't play growing up they were the most refreshing of all things I could ever think of by then. The sad part is that they are no longer played by today's kids. They are missing a very important source of childhood joy.
